The office of Societal Impact is pleased to co-host Science City at the Tucson Festival of Books, a setting of thematic neighborhoods and stages spanning the exciting worlds of science, technology, the natural world and you! Visitors will experience the connection between our daily lives and advances in science and technology, as well as learn about the ground-breaking research being conducted right here at the UA.
Science City "participants" are comprised of local organizations, UA researchers, and national STEM organizations. All participants provide hands-on activities for festival goers to engage with a range of topics.
Open Houses and Tours are hosted directly on the UArizona campus to allow festival goers a behind-the-scenes peek at research facilities and museum collections.

Rock the Bike
The Rock the Bike participants showcased a fun display for all guests that allowed children to interact with the bikes, making it a fun way to learn and engage with science!

Tucson Audubon Society
A special thanks goes out to all of the participants of out 2023 Science City. We appreciate the Tucson Audubon Society for coming out and organizing a fun display to showcase the importance of keeping our wild birds safe.

Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center
The Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center had great display that attracted the attention of many people. They shared information on common venomous snakes here in Tucson and emphasized on the possible outcomes of being exposed to their venom.

Arizona Retina Project
The Arizona Retina Project showcased a very fun display, teaching us about the biological layers of the retina and explaining what happens when the eye is exposed to different color lights. They included fun, hands-on activities for the children!
The RII office of Societal Impact partners with TFOB by chairing the Science City Steering Committee, a collaboration that allows us to further our mission through community partnerships and STEM outreach.
